The Pembroke School Annual Report : Annual Report 2017
Between 1996 and 2017 Mrs Bennett donated over $5 million to Pembroke School, supporting many and varied School initiatives. Many hundreds of students have benefited from the support and encouragement offered through Mrs Bennett’s personal and philanthropic commitment to Pembroke School. As an Old Scholar, Mrs Bennett held an unwavering respect and love for all things Girton and Pembroke; her belief that education provides all the opportunity a child needs to change their world, is validated and reflected in current and past Pembroke students each day, all over the globe. Mrs Bennett’s physical presence in our community is greatly missed however her extraordinary legacy provides a magnificent example of philanthropy and of what it is to give. I wish to acknowledge the work and outstanding achievements of the Middle School Development Capital Campaign Team: Ms A Bourchier (Foundation Director) Mrs K Carruthers, Mrs K Carrocci, Mr S Elvish, Mrs C Holmes, Mrs A Naylor, (Finance Manager and Foundation Accountant) Mr N Ross, (Campaign Chair and Foundation Board Member) Mr P Shute, Mrs F Tam, Dr J Teo, Mrs J Thomas, Ms S Thomas (Foundation Consultant), Mrs S Williams (Planned Giving) and Mrs J Zhu. Your commitment, energy, and hard work is greatly valued and appreciated. Aligned with the ongoing work of the Campaign Team and following the written appeal to all members of the School community, the bold vision of raising $10 million for The Shipsters Road Project Campaign was communicated to the School community. Throughout 2017 the Principal, Mr Luke Thomson and the Foundation Director, Ms Amanda Bourchier acted as hosts for community and parent briefings and fundraising events across all sectors of the School community to encourage financial support for the Shipsters Road Project Campaign. Development The Pembroke School Foundation Strategic Planning process and completion of the Pembroke Development Plan directed a primary focus for the Foundation to improve and grow the culture of giving at Pembroke School. The launch of the Capital Campaign in support of the Middle School Development, The Shipsters Road Project, communicated accurate information to the School community in relation to the School’s financial position with regards capital development, past and present fundraising and the need for future financial support from the School community. In 2017 the Capital Campaign Committee, led by current parent and Foundation Board member, Mr Nicholas Ross, accomplished the mammoth task of conveying the case for support for the Capital Campaign to the School community. Key in this strategy has been to acquaint the School community with the vision for and the spectacular opportunities this much-needed facility will bring to current and future students, staff and the wider community.
